November 2009
Philip Amadeus made a two week
300 mile crossing by camel of the Tenere Desert in Niger,
following the Tuareg salt caravans. These are slowly being
replaced by trucks, but the camel trains of 2-300 camels regularly
make the journey, in the cooler winter months. They trade
for salt blocks made at the Bilma oasis by evaporating the
saline water.
|

Tempratures were up to 40 degrees
in the daytime and down to 12 degrees at night. Philip slept
outside on a mat, which helped improve his astral navigation.

| For
those of you interested in football, we flew the actual FA Cup
7th March 2009, around all the clubs still in the competition:
Chelsea, Coventry, Middlesborough, Enfield, Manchester United
and Fulham.
Because of the extra performance of the
Power, we were able to land in Old Trafford stadium car park
in our A109 , to be met by fans and the Press. The whole round
trip was flown at 170 mph in just 3 hours 50 minutes.
Our helicopter appeared that night
on the ITV football coverage.

Philip went to Svalbard 80
degrees North
last May, on a 10 day dog
sled expedition. He covered 300 miles and the highlight
was spotting a mother bear and two cubs, although
too far away to photograph.
