Ray Mears
|
Philip Amadeus spent two weeks
December 2006 training with Ray Mears [www.raymears.com]
in the rainforest of Belize, Central America.
There were lessons on jungle navigation, making
shelters, catching/collecting food and avoiding
being eaten, followed by 7 nights deep in the rainforest.

With high humidity and rainfall,
lighting fires was a problem, solved by first lighting
bits of car inner tube. At least he now knows how
to make a cup of tea for clients, if stranded in
the jungle!

Fastnet
Philip Amadeus and Pete Barnes
flew photographer Daniel Forster and video cameraman
Matt Connor for TWI again this August, to help capture
these images of the Rolex Fastnet yacht race. This
starts at Cowes, goes past the Scilly Isles and over
to Ireland, circling the Fastnet Rock near Cork, before
returning to a finish in Plymouth. |

As consecutive days sunrise
and sunset shots were wanted over a four day period,
two pilots were used to comply with Public Transport
duty day and rest period requirements. The weather
was very bright, but light winds meant a slow pace
for the yachts, the helicopter was therefore flown
in a way to give the video shots more movement.

G8
For the G8 conference July 2005, RotorMotion sent two
helicopters to Scotland to daily fly a VIP shuttle from
various ‘secret’ overnight locations into
Gleneagles Hotel. All four pilots were security vetted
and the helicopters were kept in quarantine at Prestwick
Airport during the operation. |
President Putin of Russia was
flown by Captains Pete Barnes and Richard Evans. When
he was allocated another crew the next day, he insisted
on having the RotorMotion machine again. |
